COREL CORPORATION

Corel Corporation is built by Michael Cowpland in 1985. Corel is abbreviation from Cowpland Research Laboratory. It means that Corel is a research laboratory  which develope become  a commercial corporation. It placed in Ottawa, Ontario-Canada.

This corporation showed the successful  in the begin of booming hitech in ’90 decade with graphic software product  that called CorelDraw.  It made Corel became the biggest software corporation in Canada at those time. Corel has changed the investors become rich people.

The successful of Corel  is not long, because it has to face the competitors. The main compotitor of Corel is Microsoft, after  got the application WordPerfect in 1996. Corel WordPerfect has to compete hardly with Microsoft Word, but it’s not success.

The existence of  WordPerfect as a Corel product has changed the specialization of Corel. If Adobe Systems still focus on Power Graphic  and Publishing, Corel will doing verification on the products. As a word processing application, WordPerfect makes Corel doesn’t become a specialization Software Graphic  Corporation  again.  After  this event, there are many products of corel that published. They are Corel Video, Barista, Corel Computer,  and Corel Linux.

On December 2006 Corel declared the ending  process of taking a part Intervideo and Ulead as member in Corel Corporation. Now, Corel is still used by the people in the world.
